At Putnam Community Medical Center’s Family Birthplace, you will find a family-centered approach to childbirth in the comfort of a home-like setting.
Your Baby’s Touch
To help you and your baby bond in comfort and privacy, Putnam Community Medical Center provides for "rooming in" so your baby can be with you during this special time. This gives you an opportunity to learn more about your baby’s habits and schedule and for you baby to learn you and your habits. Our experienced staff is here for you and your newborn. Your nurse will assist you and educate you in caring for your infant’s needs including bathing, dressing, feeding, and/or nursing.
What We Offer
At Putnam Community Medical Center our robust Women’s Services program has up to date technology to exceed your expectations on your special day and your baby’s birthday! We offer our new state of the art HUGS Infant Security System by Stanley Healthcare, Corometrics fetal monitoring system and Panda Warmers by GE Healthcare for your infant. We also have a wonderful, compassionate nursing staff with Certified Lactation Counselors to support you on your breastfeeding journey and Car Seat Technicians to ensure your baby is safe.
Classes & Tours
The Family Birthplace offers preparation classes for your big day. These classes that are offered include:
- Childbirth Education
- Breastfeeding Education
- Breastfeeding Peer Support Groups
- Car Seat Safety
We also offer tours of the labor and delivery unit. This is a time for you to see our facility, learn what to expect during your stay, meet our exceptional staff, and ask any questions you may have. To sign up for a class or tour, call (386) 326-7821 or register online.
After Birth Follow-Up
Even after discharge, we continue to care for you and your baby. All new parents will receive a phone call from us within 48 hours of discharge to answer any questions you may have and make sure all is going well for you and your baby.
